Rokkets and “No”  The early to mid-70s saw a breakthrough in Rosenfeld’s artistic evolution. He abandoned the strictures of his Expressionistic foundation to adopt almost graffiti-like—sometimes comedic—figuration in oil and mixed media in his Rokkets and “No” series. These works were clearly a springboard to the decades that followed, as he moved away from the conventional flat surface and began engaging in the use of different, groundbreaking, substrates, which led to stripping the canvas off the stretchers and his subsequent “rag” paintings, wire and can works.
